The latest nail art trends really got us appreciating nature so much more, haven’t they? The gorgeous dried flower manicure won our hearts, but for those who prefer something edgier, and perhaps something more sparkly, this new mini craze might be for you.
The latest geode nail obsession is nothing short of spellbinding. Nail artists have very gladly taken the liberty of including glitter, metallic sheet foils, actual crystals onto their creations. Some even went the extra mile of actually drilling down multiple of nail lacquer to reveal the “natural” layers of crystals and gems. The process is seriously magical to watch, we promise you that.
Be forewarned though, the techniques used are relatively advanced and do require some skill when executing. For the ones who are keen on trying out the drilling method, the key is to layer on multiple coats of each nail polish colour and have them dry fully. Now that you have a thick chunk of polish on, simple so ahead and use a nail-drill to carve and buff out the open crystals. Feel free to add on even more glitter for an extra sparkly effect.
And as for those who aren’t as adventurous, the usual watercolour / hand-painting jobs would work as well. Some artists even made use to the water-marbling technique, and then embellished their nails with glitter and foil. You could mimic the colours of your favourite crystals (the sweetheart of the moment seems to be amethyst) or create you own. Creativity’s your only limit!
