When it comes to packaging, no one does it flashier than Christian Louboutin; the brand has time and again put out (unnecessarily) excessive ones, which goes along the lines of mermaid tails, pointy vials, Louboutin heel-inspired dagger-sharp handles… you name it. Their latest collection surprisingly doesn’t include any new groundbreaking packaging, but we’re glad to say that it is still fleshy, nonetheless.
There will be no reds this time (shocking, but true). In the classic colour’s stead though, is a fresh six-piece launch of nude lip colours and nail polishes. And not just any nude, mind you. Louboutin has decided to put a modern twist on the our undying love for the 90’s beauty fads by including a metallic sheen to the brand’s new flesh-toned shades. There will be three new colours for the Loubilaque Lip Lacquers, and another trio of Nail Colours that’ll join the existing nude ones, just with high-shine this time.
The new additions to the Loubilauqe Lip Lacquers family come with a slightly different formula as compared to the pre-existing one. This time, the sheen of the glosses are packed — chockfull — of sparkly shimmer. Basically, a metallic, foil-like gloss. There’s Goldissima, a shiny warm peach colour; Preciosa, an iridescent petal pink (and a definite crowd favourite); and Bronzissima, a true coppery-bronze shade. The mermaid-tail-inspired vials will also come with a full gold cap this time, instead of the regular silver-gold combination.
Goldissima and Preciosa also make up two of the three nude nail colours. The last one, Irisa, is a limited edition stone-copper pewter shade that will shine with an opalescent finish when on the nails. The formulas of these polishes contain high amounts of aluminium and tan opal mica pigments that’s going to one, blind you with its crazy shine, and two, provide your nails with a multi-faceted shimmer finish.
The Metalinude collection will drop May 3 on christianlouboutin.com. Loubilaque Lip Lacquers go for US$85 each, and Nail Colours at US$50 each.
